So apparently, there was a football game played last night. I hear it was pretty good. OK, it was a great game, and Pittsburgh didn’t cover, so I won a dollar. It was sweet. But, lets get to the interesting part about the Super Bowl every year, the commercials. As a whole, I was kind of disappointed with this year’s spots. There were definitely some great ones tough, Alec Baldwin included. Here are my top 6 from last night.
Doritos – Crystal Ball
I loved the contest that Doritos ran for this commercial, they were all deserving, but this one was definitely exceptional. Word is that the creators were on the Today Show this morning.
Bud Light – Swedish
I had to include this one, naturally. I love the subtle nod to Conan having to move to Los Angeles. Clever.
Pepsi – Pepsuber
Great SNL casting in this ad, also love the reference to the “Gilly” sketch from a couple weeks back.
Pepsi – Refesh Anthem
Dylan. Really clever theme. The only thing that killed it was will.I.am, but I guess it served a purpose.
Denny’s – Thug’s This one was just great, and you get a free slam. BONUS!
Hulu - Alec in Huluwood
Loved this one, Alec is king. I love how he just keeps playing the same character (The Departed, 30 Rock, etc.). Classic.
What were your favorite ads? Did I miss some?
I was disappointed not to see the Doritos Beer Commercial from the competition on their website. That one was hilarious.
