Thanks to the good people at Myspace Secret Stand-Up, the UK’s most subversive comedy team The Mighty Boosh made their stateside debut with a pair of shows in New York and L.A. Despite a graveyard timeslot on Adult Swim, the Boosh has captured the imagination of late night viewers, with lines for these shows stretching around the block, fans dressed up as favorite characters, and a packed to the gills panel at last week’s Comic Con.

Watching the show, it’s easy to see why they inspire such passion in fans. Boosh head-honchos Julian Barratt and Noel Fielding took to the stage to rapturous applause and launched into a hilarious set combining Russian theatre, blue steam farts, bestiality and gently mocking Kings Of Leon. The rest of the gang was there too - Naboo the South London Shaman shared his love of Pop Tarts and his skills on the decks, his ape familiar Bollo sexed things up with a raunchy song and dance and Zooniverse owner Bob Fossil taught the crowd some new moves. Fan faves like Old Gregg (“I’ve got a mangina!”) and The Hitcher also appeared to scare the hell out of everyone involved.

Ghostly Discovery

The folks over at the Indie label, Ghostly International, created this pretty cool iPhone app that allows users to listen and discover music based of of your mood.  Select your mood setting on their color coded mood wheel then pick your bpm, and preference on organic or digital tunes.  The app then searches throught the Ghostly catalog and puts together a playlist to fit your current mood settings.  A nice way to introduce fans to new music and did we mention its a free app?

Sure iTunes has its somewhat similar Genius option for making playlists, but Genius only guesses based on a selected artist/track and doesn't always pull together the best "like" artist for that perfect party playlist.

Take A Trip, With Wolfmother

Who says laser light shows are a thing of the past? Tonight, at the LASERIUM CyberTheater in Hollywood, Wolfmother fans, myself included, will be treated to a show of epic proportions. Lucky fans get a preview of the new Wolfmother album, Cosmic Egg, set to the visual splendor that only a laser light show can offer. What better way to experience a new rock record than by surrounding yourself in an environment that’s a throwback to the roots of rock and roll spectatorship?

Space is limited, but those in the LA area still have time to RSVP. Hopefully we’ll see you tonight!

TECH: Blackberry Address Book of the Future

When you get right down to it, managing better communication is the number one goal of a blackberry user. Music, video, and games are fun but any upgrade or program that allows you to be more productive is the ultimate win.

Sensobi launched their new BlackBerry address book this week to huge anticipation. The free application completely refreshes how you look at your address book. Each contact now displays all past communication with that person (email and phone).

Its a game changing app not so much for what it does for you now but for the potential of what it will likely bring in the future.

As we’re sure you’ll hear, today marks the 40th anniversary (the ruby anniversary, who knew?) of Apollo 11’s landing on the moon. Satiating My Mood For Madchester and Industrial Music

My late 80's/early 90's dance collection has been on heavy rotation in my downtime. Here are videos from two of the greats: The Happy Mondays and Nitzer Ebb!

Nothing really beats this live performance of "Join in the Chant" (1989). Actually creating these teutonic baselines while dressed in cut off muscle tees and combat boots is priceless. And the sea of men in their nazi-germany crew cuts is quite a scene. Douglas McCarthy's dancing at the end pretty much sums it up.

I was too young to actually remember when Paul Oakenfold was cool and part of the first Balearic movement in England - but thank you Paul Oakenfold for producing Pills 'n' Thrills and Bellyaches by The Happy Mondays. I can't seem to track down this 12" version of "Bob's Yer Unkle" for less than $40 and it's a shame because I haven't heard a recording this sexy in a long time.

Dress Like Don Draper

I love Don Draper, I won't deny. The lead character in AMC's period drama, Mad Men, is not a generally likeable guy. He’s a philandering, drinking, smoking semi-misogynist. The thing is, he looks so wonderful doing it. Season 3 of Mad Men is on its way, and I can’t wait. I love the Sterling Cooper gang- from mousy career-woman Peggy Olsen, to voluptuous office minx Joan Holloway, to self-destructive newlywed Pete Campbell. I can't get enough. So you can imagine my delight when a friend sent me an article about the upcoming season.

To promote the new season, AMC and Banana Republic are teaming up, for a line of Mad Men inspired clothes. That’s right, with the right amount of money; you too can look like Don, Betty, or any one of the well-dressed gang.

Is anyone else excited? If you're not watching this show, you must. It’s the sort of character-driven drama that's been missing from HBO lately (R.I.P, Six Feet Under). Season 2 arrives on DVD July 14th, and AMC will run a marathon August 10th. Here's a preview of Season 3.

Wild Beasts

I recently heard the new single "Hooting and Howling" from UK's Wild Beasts and instantly fell in love. The  Debukas remix for the single is even better and takes the music to the next level, creating a deep house sound that makes the enormous falsetto vocals that much more eerie. The Wild Beasts are already being coined the UK's version of  Hercules and Love Affair, which are big shoes to fill. Look out for their new release Two Dancers on Domino Records.
